Winter Weather & Emergency Updates (1)

Doylestown Township is actively monitoring winter weather conditions and has implemented the following emergency measures to help keep residents safe and informed. Please review the information below and continue to check back for updates.

Snow Emergency Declaration

Effective Thursday, January 22 at 11:30 AM

Doylestown Township declared a Snow Emergency in accordance with Township Ordinance § 164-35 due to forecasted heavy snowfall.

Snow Operations Update

  • Township crews are actively preparing and will be treating and plowing throughout the weekend in response to the forecasted storm.
  • Roadways are the Township’s top priority and will be plowed and treated first. Bike and hike trails are secondary and will be addressed as conditions allow after roadway operations are complete.
  • Please give snowplows plenty of space so crews can work safely and efficiently.

Parking Restrictions

To allow for efficient plowing and road maintenance, do not park or leave vehicles on roadways during the Snow Emergency, as parked vehicles interfere with snow removal operations.

Sidewalk & Snow Removal Requirements

Property owners are reminded of the following requirements:

  • Sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours after snowfall ends
  • Do not plow, shovel, or blow snow onto public streets
  • Maintain a 3-foot clearance around fire hydrants

Code Blue – Extreme Cold Weather

  • Bucks County has issued a Code Blue in response to dangerously cold temperatures.
  • A Code Blue is declared when weather conditions pose a serious risk to individuals experiencing homelessness. Warming centers and emergency shelters are activated during this time.

Township Amenities - Parks, Trails, Community Center and Leaf & Yard Waste CLOSED

  • The Dog Park and Kids Castle are temporarily closed until further notice. Roadways are our first priority. Parks and essential Bike & Hike trails will be treated and plowed after all road maintenance is completed. For everyone’s safety, please do not remove or ignore barricades. If you choose to visit Kids Castle for sledding, please note that the amphitheater is off-limits and barricades must not be removed.
  • The Community Recreation Center (CRC) will be CLOSED on Sunday, January 25 and Monday, January 26.
  • The Leaf & Yard Waste site will also be closed for Christmas tree drop off.

Trash & Recycling Containers

Please move trash and recycling containers off roadways and away from the curb to prevent damage and to allow snowplows to operate safely.

Snow Season Mailbox Reminder

According to the United States Postal Service (USPS), mailboxes should be installed 6–8 inches from the curb face. Proper placement helps reduce the risk of damage during snow removal and ensures continued mail delivery.

Travel Advisory

Non-essential travel is strongly discouraged due to potentially hazardous road conditions.

Portable Basketball Hoops

Portable basketball hoops located along streets must be removed during snow events to prevent damage and interference with snow removal operations.
