The Central Park Streambank Stabilization Project which is part of the Township's MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) has begun. This $1.6 million project focuses on stabilizing 1,955 linear feet of streambank stretching from Turk Road to Central Park, ensuring long-term sustainability and ecological health of the area. Key components of the project include the removal of a man-made pond adjacent to the stream. This area will be restored as a floodplain with wetland plantings, which will enhance the natural habitat and improve stormwater management. The project aims to address erosion issues which have lead to increased sedimentation and degradation of water quality. By reinforcing these banks, the project will not only prevent further erosion but also enhance the natural habitat for local wildlife, creating a more resilient ecosystem.
