Northern Water Mains Extension Project
The Doylestown Township Municipal Authority and its contractor, PACT Construction, will begin construction on the Northern Water Main Extensions Project in mid-June 2026.
This important infrastructure project will install approximately 12,000 linear feet of new 12-inch ductile iron water main, along with new fire hydrants and water services, throughout portions of Doylestown Township and New Britain Borough.
Construction is expected to continue through November 2026 (Schedule is weather dependent and subject to change).
Project Purpose
The Northern Water Main Extensions Project is a major component of DTMA’s long-term water system improvement plan. The project is designed to improve water system resiliency and infrastructure reliability for the surrounding communities. The project will:
- Improve overall water system reliability and redundancy
- Connect four (4) existing sections of the DTMA water system

- Strengthen water delivery capabilities throughout the service area
- Enhance future emergency response and fire protection access
- Support continued community infrastructure investment
This project has been made possible through a $1.4 million H2O PA – Water Supply Grant.
Roads Affected
New water main installation will occur along the following roadway segments:
- Pine Run Road (Chapman Road to Limekiln Road)
- Limekiln Road (Pine Run Road to West Sandy Ridge Road)
- Old Iron Hill Road (Longwood Circle to Keeley Avenue)
- Lamp Post Road (Keeley Avenue to East Butler Avenue)
- East Butler Avenue (Lamp Post Road to West Sandy Ridge Road)
- Sandy Ridge Road (East Butler Avenue to Ridge View Lane)
What Residents Should Expect - This project involves the installation of new infrastructure only
At this time:
- There will be no direct connection to existing residential water sources
- Residents are not expected to lose water service
- No work is anticipated directly on private property beyond necessary utility easements or roadway areas
- Temporary traffic impacts and construction activity should be expected during active work periods
Residents may experience:
- Temporary lane restrictions
- Construction equipment and vehicle traffic
- Short-term noise during working hours
- Periodic roadway restoration activities
Every effort will be made to minimize disruption to residents, businesses, and emergency services throughout construction.
