Legacy Program

The Legacy Program allows groups and individuals to donate trees or benches with accompanying commemorative plaques in which to memorialize special events, honor individuals, or as remembrance to loved ones. Simultaneously, these plaques serve to enhance and beautify our local parks and facilities as well as give insight to the history and heart of the township.

Tree Sponsorship

  • Native Tree Options: Tulip Poplar, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, White Oak or Honey Locust.

A unique and thoughtful way to celebrate life and love while making an extremely meaningful contribution to your community. Through the Township’s “Legacy Tree” program, you have the opportunity to give a rare gift - one that lives and can be enjoyed for years to come.

This program enables you to have tree planted in a Doylestown Township park to celebrate special occasions such as births, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or graduations. Watch the tree grow along recipient/s to which it is dedicated. Or commemorate the loss of a loved one or dear friend by planting a living memorial that could last for generations.

Civic and youth groups, sports teams, etc. can sponsor a “Legacy Tree" to honor individuals for special achievements or leadership. This is a wonderful way for your group to display its pride in the community.

To participate in this program, complete the Legacy Tree Form. Once your form and donation have been received, Parks and Recreation Department staff will contact you to make arrangements for your tree location/planting. You will be notified when your tree has been planted and will also receive a certificate to keep or give as a gift. We will prepare it according to your wishes to indicate who or what your tree is honoring.

Planting and Upkeep

Trees ordered from April 1 through October 15 will be planted in the late fall. Trees ordered October 16 through March 31 will be planted in the spring.

The Doylestown Township park maintenance staff will provide the necessary care for the tree following planting for best chance of optimal establishment and growth.

Warranty/Replacement

A one-year replacement warranty is included with sponsorship. During this period, the Township will replace any tree that does not survive. Replacement trees will be of the same size or caliper as the originally installed tree. Replacement trees will be selected by the Parks Superintendent and may not be of the same species or in the same location depending on the cause of loss of the original tree and/or availability.

The Township cannot guarantee a tree will survive indefinitely in any location. Should loss of a tree occur after the coverage of the warranty period, the sponsor may choose to “adopt” and existing park tree at the discretion of the Park Superintendent without additional warranty coverage.

Bench Sponsorship

Sponsor a Bench with Plaque to be placed in our parks.

Price: $3,000

Some minor restrictions apply as far as…

  • Benches are installed at approved sites in the order requests are received.
  • The Parks and Recreation Department may limit locations as needed.
  • Installation depends on the time of year received and the number of preceding orders. The department usually installs the benches in the fall and late winter.
  • Payment is due at the time the order is placed.

The Benches can be requested to be placed at most parks or along trails until maximum capacity is reached.

Once the bench is installed, a letter of notification will be sent to the applicant, including a map showing the location of the bench.

Brick Sponsorship

  • Engraved with up to 9 lines of text /19 characters per line, including spaces.
