Central Park

Central Park (155.5 acres) is the flagship of the Doylestown Park System. Expansive, it stretches from New Britain Road to Wells Road, interconnected by bike and hike and wooded trails. The park is accessible from Wells Road and New Britain Road.

The New Britain access point is adjacent to the 202 Parkway Trailhead, with ample parking and rest areas as well as a porta potty. It spreads out in all directions, offering open vistas to soccer fields lined by wooded areas and old growth trees that invite exploration. A circular connecting interpretive trail rims the fields and winds through forested areas. It offers engagement with nature in its many guises.

Along the way, a sensory trail, nestled in, and at the edge of the woods, provides engaging activities for all children.

Paved surfaces also connect both sides of the park and meander through meadows and wetlands. Flowers, butterflies, bluebirds abound, enchanting both bikers and hikers. It is the start of Circuit Trails network (Circuit Trails.org) leading to Montgomeryville and on. A destination for walking and biking and simply enjoying nature.

The Wells Road access point is both an active and passive family friendly venue, offering sport and recreational activities for all ages. Whether you are a biker, walker, or nature enthusiast, there is something at the park for you. It is home to the township amphitheater, that hosts concerts and events. There is parking and rest rooms.

Miles of paved trails within the park encourage exploration including the environmental education areas, the bird blind, native plant garden, and perhaps a stop for lunch or a snack at one of the pavilions or the picnic grove.

For active families, there are sports fields, tennis, pickle ball, and bocce courts, as well as open spaces for kite flying and active family fun. Adult exercise stations are threaded throughout, encouraging physical fitness. All children will enjoy imaginative adventures, wandering through the multi levels of Kids Castle and the surrounding creative and diverse play opportunities. A tot lot sits next to the soccer fields for younger children.

Central Park also serves as a hub for connecting to other trails and destinations, including the 202 Parkway Trail, Kutz Elementary School, Neamand Park, and the proposed Neshaminy Greenway Trail. Wooded and paved trails connect to the New Britain areas of the park.

All township parks welcome well behaved leashed dogs. Handlers are required to pick up after their pets.
