Code Enforcement Office Updates: Looking forward to projects in 2019

If you are a planning a home improvement project for the New Year, it is always important to make sure you have properly planned and researched what your Municipality requires of you. As of October 2018, the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code adopted the 2015 ICC Construction Codes. This is applied to all residential and commercial building projects contracted after October of 2018. Any and all new construction plans submitted with applications must be compliant with the 2015 Codes.

Our website contains resources for the most common projects we see within the Township. This would be a good place to start your research. Look under the “Code and Zoning” section (under the “Departments” tab on the home page) for some basic guidelines on permit requirements. The Doylestown Township On-Line Code book is also accessible on this page. Chapter 175 of the Township Code is where all Township Zoning requirements can be found. Please check to make sure your application is compliant with the regulations of your Zoning District.

You can also find the updated 2019 Fee Schedule here. Please check the current Fee Schedule as some fees have changed for 2019. We do not require payment of permit fees at the time of submission. Permit fees are due after the application has received approval, and the exact amount due is calculated during the plan review process. You will be notified of the fees due.

Additionally, we have provided downloadable PDF files under the “Forms for Download” tab for “Code Enforcement Guidelines”. Here you will find literature on certain projects, such as, basement finishing, new home construction, and stormwater management practices.

We look forward to receiving your applications, and as always, are more than happy to assist you with the permitting process.
